Applying plane isentropic compression to sample is a newly developed dynamic high pressure loading technique abroad, which is achieved through the magnetic pressure produced by the interaction between pulsed high current and its self-inducing magnetic field. Based on a special financial support of instrument from National Natural Science Foundation of China, device CQ-4 is the first compact pulsed power generator designed to realize magnetically driven isentropic compression up to 110GPa and to launch macroscopic metallic flyer plate up to 15km/s in China. The main performance and loading capability of CQ-4 and its application in high pressure constitutive relation, phase transition of material and mechanical behavior of un-reacted solid explosive etc. are introduced in this paper.
